At a time when artificial intelligence is experiencing unprecedented growth, it might be tempting to view it as the be-all and end-all of our society and any reputable educational institution. Believing that artificial intelligence can replace all our intellectual activities, including teaching and knowledge transmission, is, in my opinion, a misunderstanding of the tool's purpose and a substitution of the human element with a machine.

For me, it’s forgetting that the essence of the educational project is based on the relationship. The quality of the relationship established with the child defines the quality of the pedagogical project. It is this relationship that allows the child to gain confidence, understand their connection to the world, open up to others, and develop their curiosity. The French kindergarten programs revolve around an expression I love very much, which summarizes the ambition of our educational system: "explore the world." Exploring is not just a simple visit like that of a spectator or a tourist who would merely take a few photos and go no deeper than the surface of things. Exploring means traversing, being an active participant in the path that is drawn and offered to me. The teacher and the school are there to help discover, understand one's potential, and harness the resources to apprehend this world around them. They provide the tools to think, understand its history and diversity. They also provide the words to grasp it. They accompany in intellectual experiences as well as life experiences to think, understand, and live well the journey that the child maps out for themselves.
